I was so pleased to see that Antrim and Newtownabbey are to become a ‘D(d)eaf-friendly’ council.😊
The local authority will commit to providing signing on their social media videos.
The council is also likely to:
- Appoint a “deaf champion”
- Introduce sign courses for staff
- Commit to approving deaf awareness (working with neighbouring councils and deaf organisations).
Let’s hope more councils follow suit.👍
