Thank you Ardingly Prep School for inviting us to teach the Year 6 students BSL as part of their series of ‘New Skills Days.’ These sessions were to promote and support the school motto “Shaping my World”. The school recognise that BSL is an important skill for fully inclusive communication, and the teachers want to help the pupils become more aware of the need to be capable of interacting with everyone as they go forward in their lives.
Kathleen and Paul taught an interactive session incorporating fingerspelling games, the importance of facial expressions and key BSL phrases. They were very impressed with how quickly the children learnt the signs, and how keen they were – particularly when signing about sports and hobbies.
We hope the children all enjoyed the day and are inspired to carry on learning BSL in the future.
