Deaf Awareness Week 2020 – Guest Speaker

Kathleen and Paul recently taught a 10 week British Sign Language course for a group at AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians,) which started at their London headquarters and was completed via Zoom. Their staff are extremely keen to learn BSL because one of their team is Deaf and a BSL user.

We were delighted when AAT approached us to be a Guest Speaker during Deaf Awareness Week, May 4th – 10th. This is a week which aims to raise awareness and challenge perceptions of hearing loss and deafness across the UK.

Kathleen is preparing a 2 hour presentation for AAT in which she will cover what it means to be Deaf, causes of deafness, communication tips, her experiences of deaf education, the workplace, technology, campaigning and British Sign Language. Thanks to Zoom, she will be able to reach a large group of staff from AAT, and incorporate an interpreter to voiceover.

This is one of several training sessions we are holding during Deaf Awareness Week. If you are interested in us providing a similar session for your team  – contact us.
