Signature Level 4 Certificate in British Sign Language
The Level 4 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) meets the learning needs of those who already have competence in British Sign Language at Level 3 and are interested in developing their skills and knowledge.
It is designed for those who work with, or want to work with, Deaf people (e.g. social workers, teachers of the Deaf, voluntary workers, workers within Deaf organisations, schools, etc.), and those who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in British Sign Language.
In order to be entered for a course and assessment leading to this qualification, learners
must be able to demonstrate competence in BSL at Level 3. You must be age 19+ to take this qualification.
We are working closely with our venue who is following Government guidelines to provide a safe environment for all their user groups. If we are unable to meet in person, we will teach courses entirely using Zoom until we can.
You will need basic computer skills to join this course – Sending / receiving emails, downloading / uploading videos, ability to use Zoom.

Kathleen Grehan – Director of Dot Sign Language, will explain the aim, content and assessment methods of this course. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions.
If you are not a current Dot Sign Language student and are interested in joining our Level 4 course you will need an interview with Kathleen to assess your signing and receptive skills. This is a requirement of all BSL teaching centres by Signature.

What will I learn?
Candidates must demonstrate both receptive and productive BSL skills at level 4, and in all of the six topics that make up this qualification.
To achieve the full Level 4 Certificate in British Sign Language, candidates are required to achieve all units.

Additional sessions online using Zoom.
Assessments must be face to face – we are not able to offer these online for Level 4.
