Kathleen and Paul were invited to construction giant Willmott Dixon to discuss how to make the workplace inclusive for Deaf colleagues and customers. It was the perfect opportunity for Paul to share stories of his days working on building sites when there was no Access to Work budget for interpreters. He explained the challenges he had on site- lack of access to Health & Safety briefings, difficulties understanding colleagues, shocking examples of discrimination because he is Deaf; and the importance of improving communication now and in the future.
This is why it is vital that companies like Willmott Dixon educate their staff on how to make the workplace inclusive. Thank you to all the attendees for your participation and enthusiasm learning to sign.
