BBC – Dot Sign Language On Air!

We were delighted to appear on BBC Sussex and Surrey’s Lewis Mason’s show last week to talk about the work we do at Dot Sign Language.

Jan (with input from Director of Dot Sign Language Kathleen Grehan) talked about how learning sign language is becoming more popular in this country. Jan said that more organisations such as Heathrow and the NHS are asking for Deaf Awareness training from Dot to help them communicate better with Deaf colleagues, customers and patients.

Jan also explained about our other work – from teaching short British Sign Language taster sessions through to level 6 (equivalent to a degree). She said that the Dot team also deliver training to local community groups.

Jan said she hoped the proposed GCSE in British Sign Language would be given the go ahead soon. There was also time for Jan to teach presenter Lewis some basic signs – although signing is always quite hard to show on the radio!

Thanks Lewis Mason for inviting us and for helping us increase Deaf awareness.

Kathleen
