Due to the success of our current iBSL Level 6 course, qualified teacher Kathleen Grehan is excited that it will run again from September 2018. The course is open to students who have successfully completed BSL Level 3 and above. Preference will be given to candidates with Level 4 but Level 3 students with strong BSL skills should also apply. Please contact us to book a session, if you are interested. Informal interview should take place between 2nd October and 22nd December.
Teachers cannot be contacted between 23rd December and 19th January. However, if you have any problems during this period office staff can offer support.

The qualification is divided into three units as follows:
IBSL6AUN: Understand complex BSL in a wide range of work situations
(Unit Number: D/505/2884)
IBSL6ASN : Use complex BSL in a wide range of work situations
(Unit Number: H/505/2885)
IBSL6ALN : BSL Linguistics Theory & Practice
(Unit Number: K/505/2886)
All three units can be achieved separately, but the full Level 6 Certificate in British Sign Language Studies can only be given if there is a PASS in each unit.
The course is assessed using 8 units of assessment.

The Level 6 Certificate in BSL consists of a total qualification time of 100 hours with a guided learning element of 40 hours. This is made up of classroom/teaching time, individual or group tutorials and feedback on observed practice and assessment. In addition it is expected that students will spend at least 60 hours doing individual study/practice.
